"These pictures were shot while I was lying on my belly hiding from sniper fire. I was with a marine platoon just south of Da Nang. We were looking for a company of Viet Cong believed to be in the area. After the shooting stopped, the Marines rounded up all the villagers and questioned them. They got a few answers. No one would tell where the men of the village were - a typical reaction. The picture of the woman holding the child has become my favorite." Eddie Adams in The Bergen Record, November 13, 1965. April 25, 1965.
