The Adult Winter Wellness series is an ideal opportunity for the community to come together for soul-nourishing connections at the dawn of the new year. Embracing themes of new beginnings, self-care, and overall health and wellness, the classes offer a diverse range of experiences. From expressive arts activities that ignite a creative flow to gentle mind-body practices like yoga and sound healing that warm both the body and spirit. Facilitated by a rotation of guest artists and wellness practitioners from the local area, these classes offer a holistic approach to well-being.
In this class, explore the meditative process of creating abstract art using watercolors, acrylic inks, and alcohol inks on paper and raw canvas. Through layering, blending, and organic mark-making, you'll tap into your creative flow while embracing the unique qualities of each medium.
This class invites all levels to experiment, relax, and discover the art of spontaneous expression, moving beyond the brush to create serene, dynamic compositions.
About Catherine Chesters
Catherine Chesters, originally from the North East of England, draws inspiration from the contrasts between post-industrial Britain and the tranquil beauty of the countryside. Her art explores the tension between nature and human experience, using mixed media and a surreal, optimistic style. With a career spanning art and design, Catherine has collaborated with notable figures in film and photography, crafted motion graphics, and art-directed campaigns for top brands.
She also exhibits her personal work internationally, with collectors from London to New York. Now based in Barryville, New York, Catherine runs Chesters Studio, a creative hub for workshops, community events, and exhibitions embodying her lifelong exploration of creativity and connection.
